Review of Just Desserts by Melanie Goddard

Looking for something fun to do this weekend?
I just returned from the opening night of the Framingham Community Theater's
"Just Desserts". What fun! Not only is the play wonderfully funny (and
written by the Theater's Writing Group), but they actually serve you dessert at
intermission! Yes, tiramisu, Boston Creme pie, cannolis, apple pie, ice
cream...and more! If that doesn't convince you, let me assure you that the puns
(and there are lots of groaners) are witty and the players are obviously
having a great time entertaining the audience.
Sometimes we forget the riches offered right here in Framingham. Celebrate
local art (and local writing...after all, this mystery centers on the theft
of the "Dennison Diamonds", and they serve up "Love Potion from Route 9"—you
know..Love Potion #9?)
Be prepared to ask the cast questions...you need to figure out who stole the
diamonds and who Newton Figg is trying to woo, as well as who should win the
Dessert Bake-Off. Hint: ask the cast what they were doing on the night the
diamonds were stolen! (You will be seated at tables, and the cast circulates
during intermission.)
Go...have fun...
