I will encourage them to constantly think and listen for themselves in their individual practice as well as during our lessons. I will challenge them constructively, to enjoy their strengths and work on improving their weaknesses. Patience and intention are my two 'magic words.' In our lessons, I will be encouraging healthy posture and playing positions, teaching through solos, duets, and other chamber music, and emphasizing musicianship (what is 'behind the music') and musicality (what the music can convey.) I cherish the opportunities to work alongside my students not for money or recognition, but to help them find their own joy in making music.
